Summer in Cape Cod is a festive season with many events to keep visitors and locals alike entertained throughout the warmer months.
Barnstable County Fair
2018’s Barnstable County Fair will run July 23-29 at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in East Falmouth. This week full of family-friendly fun will include carnival rides, games, live music, animal shows, petting zoos, a demolition derby, food, and vendors.
Woods Hole Film Festival
From July 28 – August 4, the well-respected Woods Hole Film Festival will showcase more than 100 feature-length films by emerging filmmakers. The week will also include parties, awards, readings, and workshops.
On August 4, Chatham’s VFW will host the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance’s annual summer gala, the Hookers Ball. The fundraiser supports the local fishing community and features the freshest seafood the Cape has to offer. In addition, there will be great music, dancing and live and silent auction items from local businesses and artists.
Provincetown Jazz Festival
On August 9, the 14th Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival will feature Cassandre McKinley and Jason Palmer at the Crown & Anchor. On August 13, the Cotuit Center for the Arts will showcase the Tim Ray Trio and Daryl Sherman. A portion of the proceeds will benefit charity.
Cape Cod Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival
Food Truck Festivals of America heads back to the Cape Cod Fairgrounds on August 11 in East Falmouth for a family-friendly day of great food and fantastic beer.
Provincetown Carnival Week
Taking place August 11-17, this year’s Carnival Week is themed “Mardi Gras by the Sea!” and will be a week-long celebration of LGBTQ life. Parties, art fairs and special performances will take place all week along with the much anticipated annual Drag Brunch, Pool Party, Sunset Cruise and parade. Carnival is one of the most popular attractions of the summer.
Yarmouth Summer Music Festival
On Saturday, August 18, the Old Yarmouth Drive-In will host a music festival featuring Irish and country music, food trucks, vendors, rides, and games.
Great Provincetown Schooner Regatta & Yacht Race
Every Labor Day, Cape Cod closes the season with the annual Schooner Regatta. This year, festivities run from September 3-6, opening on Monday with sailing and educational events and ending with the big race on Thursday.
